It might seem strange, but one of my pass-times as a teenager was reading dictionaries. Brewer’s Dictionary of Phrase and Fable, for example, was an all time favourite.
Apologies for my absence here @the water of recent. This was due to the illness and death of my mother, combined with a trip to Ireland for her funeral last week.
